ABOUT US
Kive is an independent curatorial studio focusing on the experimental. Our approach mediates the relationship between socio-sensory research, interactivity, and design — bridging the digital and physical.
We curate meaningful experiences and research-based programs around multidisciplinary are and design. Known for ephemeral installations and creative programming, the studio acts as a pseudo institution: a modular breeding ground for the exchange of ideas. It borrows the codes of galleries, archives, and collectives while reimagining them through community participation.
FOUNDERS NOTE
How do we perceive art? How can art reflect theory and ration?
Founded in 2023 by Isabel Lotus and Hyoeun Kang, Kive was incepted through a conversation about the lack of third spaces for creatives in Los Angeles—environments for continued learning and connection beyond traditional institutions.
Drawing from backgrounds in sociology and psychology, the pair merge research and creative practice through cultural systems exploration, using art, design, and sensory programming as methods of study. As technology continues to mediate human interaction, Kive positions itself as a living research environment that builds pseudo-spaces for intentional consumption and connection.
