Kive is an independent curatorial studio operating as a pseudo-institution, creating experimental, participatory experiences that make contemporary art and research more accessible through shared encounters.

Each project is grounded in ongoing inquiry, unfolding through touchpoints that move between physical presence and digital exchange. Rather than fixed formats or tools, we create conditions where interactivity and experimentation are welcomed. Borrowing the codes of galleries, archives, and collectives, Kive recontextualizes them through community participation.

FOUNDERS NOTE

How do we perceive art? How can art reflect theory and ration?

Founded in 2023 by Isabel Lotus and Hyoeun Kang, Kive was incepted through a conversation about the lack of third spaces for creatives in Los Angeles—environments for continued learning and connection beyond traditional institutions.

Drawing from backgrounds in sociology and psychology, the pair merge human study and cultural research with contemporary multi-media art. As technology continues to mediate human interaction, Kive positions itself as a collaborative environment that builds pseudo-spaces for intentional consumption and connection.
